The Friends manage the Book Barn located on the Basement Level of the Library. For your
convenience a sampling of books are available for sale in the lobby during regular library
hours; books should be paid for at the circulation desk.

The Book Barn is operated by the Friends of Mahopac Public Library, a volunteer organization; it is not run by the library. Since the Book Barn's staff is completely volunteer, the operating hours are subject to change without prior notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our patrons.
If you would like to volunteer at the Book Barn, leave your name and phone number at the
library information desk and someone will contact you. Men & women welcome to join us!
There will be a Book Spine Poetry Contest with a reception and poetry reading on Sunday, April 27.
On Sunday, May 18, there will be a Mah Jongg Tournament.
And on Sunday, June 1, there will be a Woodstock Concert.
To join or renew your membership, pick up a Friends brochure in the library
lobby and pay your membership at the information desk. If you cannot get to the library,
simply mail your check to the Friends of the Mahopac Public Library, 688 Route 6,
Mahopac, NY, 10541. Any membership donation of $50 or more entitles you to receive
a complimentary Friends Book Tote.
FoMPL Tote Bags
You can purchase a Friends of Mahopac Public Library tote bag. These large, colorful,
strong canvas totes with the Friends logo are available for only $10 at the Information Desk.
Or you can get one free with a paid membership in FoMPL of $50 or more!
Information about the Friends
The Friends raise funds to support the Library through activities
such as the Book Barn, the Annual Wine Tasting and special projects such as raffles, craft
events, and membership dues. They do an outstanding job of managing the incoming Book Barn
donations, staffing the Book Barn, and stocking the Book Barn Annex in the library lobby.
The Friends have recently donated the following gifts to the library:

Answer: The Friends usually meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 pm in the
Conference Room on the 3rd floor.
Q: Who are the Friends?
A: FoMPL is a group of people dedicated to serving and supporting our library. It is the mission
of the Friends to stimulate increased awareness and resulting use of the library; to stimulate
increased financial support – both public and private; to encourage gifts, endowments, and
memorials for the library; to sponsor cultural and related programs for the community; to help
provide facilities for the library; to communicate the needs of the community to the trustees; to
encourage volunteering within the Friends and the library.
